From a Single Board to a Continenttal Movement
Pi Chess Foundation started with a simple idea: every youth in Africa deserves the chance to learn chess. In 2023, we began with one chess set and a small group of eager students in Accra.
Today, we serve over 200 beneficiaries across 10 communities, running free programs in schools, community centres, and public spaces. Our coaches — many of whom were once students themselves — lead sessions that teach far more than the game.
Chess teaches patience, critical thinking, and resilience. For many of our students, it becomes a pathway to scholarships, competitions, and futures they never imagined possible.

Free Equipment
We distribute chess sets, boards, clocks, and learning materials to schools and community centres that can’t afford them.
Community Programs
Our community programs use the game of chess as a powerful tool for social inclusion, cognitive development, and rehabilitation. We deliver structured mentorship, accessible chess education, and empowerment initiatives directly to under-served public schools, orphanages, rural areas, and vulnerable youth to build stronger, more resilient communities across Africa.
Scholarships
Talented players from underserved backgrounds receive fully funded spots at the PiChess Academy for advanced training.
Mentorship
We pair young players with experienced mentors — chess masters, educators, and community leaders — for ongoing guidance.
